Headlines Sam Fender ended Saturday with confetti and fireworks on Radio 1's big weekend.
His performance had some technical problems, including a crowd-favorite hit rate of 17 times, and the treble missiles made fans call late into the night.
The singer told the crowd from the North Shields part of the singer - many people dressed in Newcastle United Kits, which was a nod to Fender's favorite team - it was "the most nervous person I've ever had, I don't know why is it".
Fender follows Tom Odell, Sugababes, Myles Smith, Blossoms and Wolf Alice, who also perform on the main stage of Sefton Park.
Among the audience, fans celebrated the “Fender’s beautiful resonance” when he danced and sang to his popular track catalog.
A fan Charlene told Newsbeat: "It's amazing, I've always wanted to see him, and I'm glad he's in Liverpool - our city."
For many, the highlight of the day was from the start of Ed Sheeran being surprised.
He is on the new music stage and says he chose because he "never played it" and feels that the tent has "the best energy."
For some fans, the disappointment that the access must be temporarily paused after reaching the maximum capacity.
Other performances on the stage include Good Neighbor Artemas, Jordan Adetunji and Aitch, who are back-to-back with good friend AJ Tracey.
Manchester United fan Aitch and Tottenham Hotspur fan AJ Tracey told Newsbeat before their scene that there was “no bad blood” between them after the Spurs beat Manchester United in the Europa League final.
“It’s hard to make friends in music, so when you do that, it’s a great feeling,” AJ Tracey said.
The girl group Sugababes also produced a vibrant show earlier in the day and praised the crowd for being "so amazing".
On the button released 20 years ago, they told NewsBeat that if today’s release is released, “this is still very latest.”
More than 100,000 fans are expected to participate in the big weekend at Liverpool, which will perform around 100 acts in four stages.
The final day of the festival will see Mumford & Sons’ headlines on Sunday night.
Tate McRae, Lola Young, Jorja Smith, Wet Legs and Haim will also be on the main stage.
