Salesforce buys Moonhub, an AI tool to launch AI recruitment

PM Pacific Update Time: A Salesforce spokesperson told TechCrunch that Moonhub was not actually obtained (by company definition). Instead, Moonhub is closing, and only some of the company's teams - not the entire team that Moonhub implies in posts about news - will join Salesforce. The original story follows.

Salesforce quietly snapped up Moonhub, an entrepreneur in corporate AI, to veterinarians and hire talent. The terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.

In an article on the Moonhub website, the company said its entire California-based Menlo Park team will join Salesforce, an early investor at Moonhub.

“As customers and investors, Salesforce has played a role in Moonhub’s journey,” Moonhub CEO Nancy Xu wrote in the post. “From our earliest conversations, it’s also clear that our company has deep core values like customer trust, and the firm belief of AI agents in unlocking the era of global innovation and opportunity. We are excited about the impact we will make together.”

Salesforce is shopping. Just last week, the company completed a $8 billion acquisition of Informatica, a company that provides data management solutions. Last month, Salesforce purchased automation startup Convergence.ai to enhance the former’s AI product offering.

Founded in 2022 by former Meta engineer Xu, Moonhub sells a range of tools designed to help companies recruit, evaluate and hire job seekers. Moonhub's AI can automatically determine candidates for roles, reach out and assist with tasks such as onboarding and salary management.

Crunchbase said Moonhub raised $14.4 million from supporters including Khosla Ventures, Aix Ventures, Day 1 Ventures and GVs (formerly Google Ventures), in addition to Salesforce. The company has hundreds of customers per XU, including Fortune 500 companies.

"On joining Salesforce, we are accelerating our mission," Xu continued in her post. "Moonhub's talented team will play a key role in advancing Salesforce's AI strategy."

Salesforce's Moonhub buying trends. While job seekers are absolutely mixed with reception, AI is increasingly used in recruitment and other HR processes. According to a recent Gallup poll, 93% of Fortune HR officers have begun integrating AI tools and technologies to enhance their practices.
