Paradise City Sales and WME Independent were co-represented by highly acclaimed Indian director Neeraj Ghaywan until its global premiere in Cannes.
"Home" marks Ghaywan's long-standing debut "Masaan" follow-up "Masaan", the show was also a highlight in 2015's view on Un and won both the Fipresci Award and the Avenir Award.
The film comes from the Dhamma works of Indian power plants, and its credits include "My Name is Khan", "raazi" and "Kapoor & Sons". The producers are Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta and Somen Mishra, co-producers Marijke de Souza and Melita Toscan Du Plantier, who also made "Masaan" and obtained Scorsese on the boat at "Homebound".
Ishaan Khatter (“The Perfect Couple”), Vishal Jethwa (“Tiger 3”) and Janhvi Kapoor (“Devara Part 1”) and “Home -Bound” are titled “New Generation Indian Cinemas”.
The “Home” revolves around two childhood friends from a small North Indian village who chase jobs among police, hoping that this will help them gain the dignity that has long been rejected. But as they get closer to their dreams, their bond is threatened by despair.
Martin Scorsese, who has been advocating for the world cinemas and joined the film in its early stages and served as executive producer, said: “Neeraj has made a beautiful film that has made a significant contribution to Indian cinemas.”
Ghaywan describes “Homebound” as “a deep personal story about friendship, dignity and survival.” "It's about people who are often invisible, the quiet power they bring in a world where they rarely pause them," the director said, adding that he hopes the film "helps us look at compassion more closely and see conditions that we have been overlooked."
Paradise City sales said the film “provides a rich textured portrait of contemporary India that feels both entrenched and completely universal, which will resonate with audiences everywhere.” It also praised Neeraj Ghaywan for bringing “a story of family, friendship and resilience” into this power. ”
The leading Paris-based distribution company AD Vitam will release the film in France. Paradise City Sales to launch international sales in Cannes, while WME Independent will represent the United States
