Ruth Buzzi, comedian "Laughing", died at 88: NPR

Comedian and actress Ruth Buzzi starred in the popular sketch comedy show Rowan and Martin's laughter, Already dead. She was 88 years old at the time. According to an article on her Facebook page, she died peacefully while sleeping at her home in Texas after battling Alzheimer's disease. Buzzi is engaged in this disease already engaged in hospice care.

Buzzi shows expressive, bright smiles and comics tricks, known for her award-winning performances Rowan and Martin's laughter. The late 1960s and early 1970s NBC variety shows, hosted by Dick Martin and Dan Rowan, centered on political and socially charged short dramas. Throughout sixty years in the showbiz career, this earned her five Emmy nominations and Golden Globes victory, Buzzi appeared on many TV shows Sesame Street and Tonight Show starring Johnny Carson. Born in 1936 in Westerly, RI, Buzzi grew up in Stonington, Connecticut. She received her first professional break in 1956 and performed with Rudy Vallée in stage comedy. She has won national recognition in the TV variety show series Garry Moore Performance 1964.

Sacrifice and condolences to artists have poured in on social media. "Thank you for your laughter," San Francisco-based comedian and promoter Lisa Geduldig wrote in response to Facebook posts. "I will always remember Gladys Opby."
