Russian drone strike kills 5 people, Moscow promises response to Ukrainian attacks | Russia - Ukrainian War News

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Russia will respond to the recent attacks in Ukraine when the military sees it appropriate.

Ukrainian authorities say Russian drone strikes killed five people in the northern town of Pryluky, a town in the Chernishiv region, including three members of a family.

Home Minister Ihor Klymenko said Thursday morning that the wife, daughter and one-year-old grandson of the local first responder were killed in the attack.

Regional Governor Viacheslav Chaus said the family was five people killed when Russia launched six drones to attack the town overnight.

He said six more people were taken to the hospital.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy slammed the attack and accused Moscow of "continuously trying to continue killing people for the time he murdered himself.

He wrote on X: "When it feels not strong enough to condemn and world pressure, it kills again."

Zelenskyy said Russia fired 103 drones and a ballistic missile overnight, targeting Donetsk, Kharkiv, Odesa, Sumy, Chernihiv, Chernihiv, Dnipro and Kherson regions.

"This is another reason for the maximum sanctions and pressure to be imposed. We expect that the United States, Europe and everyone in the world can really help change these terrible environments," he urged.

Clementko said four children were injured in the Russian drone attack in the northeastern city of Kharkiv.

Resident Anastasiia Meleshchenk told Reuters news agency that the overnight strike had flown into the neighbor's apartment and she managed to run into the corridor with her children.

"Yesterday, workers just finished repairs in my apartment after the last attack," she said.

Russia did not comment immediately.

In Russia, the Ukrainian military said it attacked missile systems in the Bryansk region, which is said to be ready to attack Ukraine.

Russia promises to respond

The attack occurred when Ukraine used 117 drones to launch four Russian military airports in Siberia and the Far North, a numbered "spider web".

Russia also accused it of blowing up railway bridges in the southern part of the country and killing seven people.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Thursday that Russia will respond to the attack when the military deems appropriate.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said on Thursday that the fighter jets held in the facility were damaged and will be restored.

Washington assessed as many as 20 fighter jets were attacked and about 10 were destroyed, two U.S. officials told Reuters.

In recent weeks, two warring aspects, despite direct negotiations in Tukuye, aimed at ending the conflict.

Al Jazeera's John Hendren said, "The U.S. Embassy warns U.S. citizens in Ukraine that a major strike is about to take place.

"U.S. President Donald Trump said in a conversation with (Russian President) Vladimir Putin that Putin will have to retaliate against the strike at the Russian airport," Hendren said.
