Russia has carried out regular air strikes on Ukraine's energy grid as ground forces advance on the battlefield.

Ukraine's state power grid operator Ukrenergo issued a nationwide air raid warning on Wednesday and implemented emergency power outages in six regions. Russia has targeted Ukraine's energy resources during the winter months during a three-year war with its neighbor.
Moscow's military launched dozens of missiles and drones at Ukraine's energy sector on Wednesday, local authorities reported.

The governor of the western Ivano-Frankivsk region noted: "Critical infrastructure in Prikapatya was targeted."
Authorities in the nearby Lviv region, which borders EU and NATO member Poland, said critical infrastructure in the Drohobic and Stry areas had been hit.
"Fortunately, there were no casualties, but damage was caused," Governor Maxim Kozycki wrote on social media.
As the attack unfolded, Ukrainian power companies implemented blackouts in the Kharkiv, Sumy, Poltava, Zaporozhye, Dnipropetrovsk and Kirovograd regions.
Energy Minister Herman Galushenko said on social media that "precautionary measures" involving the distribution system were also in effect.

Kyiv continues to press for greater military support to help it repel the bombing.
“We must continue to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense shield capabilities,” Zelenks said on social media, again calling on NATO members to provide more help.
"The commitments made by the partners at the NATO summit in Washington and in the form of Ramstein remain partially unfulfilled. We also discussed licenses for the production of air defense systems and missiles for them, which can serve as one of Ukraine's effective security guarantees."
The Russian shelling came a day after Kiev launched its largest-ever airstrikes against Russia, targeting military installations, industry and energy centers.
Moscow has complained that Ukraine used missiles supplied by the United States and Britain in one of its attacks and promised it "will not turn a blind eye."
