struggle
- Ukrainian officials said the number of deaths caused by Russia's largest air strike on Ukraine has risen from 12 to 13, with at least 60 injured.
- The victims included three children aged eight, 12 and 17 in the northwest of Zhytomyr.
- The Ukrainian Air Force said Russia fired 298 drones and 69 missiles in the overnight attack, adding that it was able to shoot down 266 drones and 45 missiles.
- The Russian Ministry of Defense said its troops have controlled the Romanifka village in the Donetsk region in eastern Ukraine.
- It also said Russian air defense intercepted 110 Ukrainian drones on Sunday, including 13 in Moscow and the SAR.
- Russia and Ukraine completed a three-day exchange of 1,000 prisoners, the largest exchange since the war began three years ago.
Politics and diplomacy
- After the attack, U.S. President Donald Trump slammed his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, calling him “crazy” and warned that any attempt to take over Ukraine completely would “cause Russia’s downfall.”
- Trump also raised the possibility of more punitive measures against Russia, saying he "absolutely" considered the increase in sanctions against the U.S. on the country.
- Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy urged international leaders to increase pressure on Russia, saying "the silence of the United States, the silence of the rest of the world will only encourage Putin." He also said other sanctions “definitely help.”
- Trump also criticized Zelenskyy, who said in a social media article that Ukrainian leaders “do anything to help their country by talking about him. Everything comes out of his mouth.
- German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul told public broadcaster ARD that the latest wave of Russia's attack on Ukraine should be answered through other Western sanctions. He said the weight of more sanctions on Moscow would put Putin into the negotiation table.
- The EU's top diplomat Kaja Kallas also called for "the greatest international pressure" on Russia to stop the war. "Seeing children in innocent victims hurt and killed," she said on X.
- U.S. envoy for Keith Kellogg of Ukraine said the latest Russian attack was a "obvious violation" of the 1977 Geneva peace agreement and called for an immediate ceasefire.

- The Netherlands said it will send the last of the 24 promised F-16 fighters to Ukraine on Monday.
