Simmons, who is seeking $20 million in damages, claims to explore multiple women's sexual assault and harassment allegations
Russell Simmons filed lawsuits against HBO and creators of the 2020 documentary film Amy Ziering and Amy Ziering and Kirby Dick In recordexplores the allegations of sexual assault and harassment by multiple women against music tycoons. Law applications filed by the Manhattan Civil Court alleges defamation and dismiss evidence provided by its representatives typeand seek $20 million in losses.
In a statement, Simmons' attorney Imran Ansari and deputy counsel Carla DiMare noted: "Despite the use of reliable information, persuasive evidence, witness evidence, witness statements and calls for further investigation into prominent members of the media, politics and civil rights movement, the defendants were simply ignored."
The submission was that Simmons' representative urged Casey Bloys to warn CEO John Stankey and other HBO executives to “review evidence and information from multiple prominent figures in the media and politics, including but not limited to civil rights leaders, members of Congress, members of Congress, and other senior black leaders and other defendants and board members;
The legal representative wrote that the filmmakers and media companies continued to “re-release globally, and the film greatly demeaned and damaged Mr. Simmons with allegations of meanness and defamation that he strongly denied.” In record Pricing at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival before airing on HBO Max later that year.
