Russell Simmons filed a libel lawsuit.

Warner Bros. finds sued by Russell Simmons, who claims behind the filmmaker In record Through blindly visible evidence, he accused him of sexually assaulting women on track and slandering him.

In a lawsuit filed Tuesday in New York State Court, Simmons filed a claim for defamation, privacy violations and false advertising. He seeks $20 million and a court order that would force WBD to remove titles from its platform.

In record It tells the story of Simmons accusers – including former DEF JAM executive Drew Dixon, domestic violence awareness activist Sil Lai Abrams and screenwriter Jenny Lumet, who decided to make a public statement on allegations of sexual assault. It was produced by Oscar-nominated directors Kirby Dick and Amy Ziering through their production flag Jane Doe films, all of which were named in the complaint, with Dan Cogan joining Dan Cogan for Impact Partners.

When Oprah Winfrey publicly announced that she would serve as executive producer, the distribution deal with Apple TV+ was cut off, citing creative disagreements with filmmakers. Later, it was selected by HBO Max as its first ever holiday acquisition.

In Tuesday's complaint, Simmons claimed that filmmakers deliberately ignored information, including interviews by more than 20 witnesses from the media and politics, challenging their narrative that music Mogul attacked and harassed women of all kinds. The lawsuit says the evidence has been brought to then-Correspondent Warner Media CEO John Stankey and Casey Bloys, chairman and CEO of HBO and Max Content.

The producers of WBD and documentary also overlooked nine polygraph tests, along with other information that “would have been discovered by due diligence and compliance with recognized journalistic standards,” wrote Simmons’ attorney Imran Ansari.

Also controversial: Apple quit distribution of documentaries and certain media, including CNN, New York Post and MSNBC, refuses to cover alleged defamatory content.

The majority of the champions came after Dixon, who filed a defamation lawsuit against Simmons last year for alleged attempts to undermine alleged sexual assault charges against him. The former Def Jam record executive claimed she was raped by music tycoon in 1995.

The complaint was filed in another lawsuit against Simmons, which was due to the tag he co-founded with, the signature was filed by him as Jane Doe.

At the Sundance premiere of the record, the audience applauded multiple protagonists. With holiday comments, In record Currently sits 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, and Hollywood ReporterJuly’s Beandrea calls the film “an amazing feat of both inclusion and extensive complexity.”

Ansari, Simmons' attorney, is a partner of Aidala, Bertuna & Kamins. Arthur Aidala, another partner at the New York law firm, is the chief consultant for Harvey Weinstein’s New York sexual assault trial.
