Ruben Amorim told Manchester United stars that they could stay on the bench in the Europa League final if they don't perform against Chelsea.
United played at the Premier League’s Stamford Bridge five days ago on Friday, five days before the final against Tottenham Hotspur in Bilbao on Wednesday.
Amorim said he has not decided to start the XI at San Mames. And, he insists that players can also join his team when they go to Chelsea.
"I already know I'm thinking about Chelsea's starting XI and then I'll see it," Amorim said.
"The way we're there against Chelsea, I'll see it, and that's going to be important for the next one (opposing Tottenham Hotspur).
Amorim suggested that the 4-3 defeat at Brentford two weeks ago was due in part to some players who have sought to play against athletic clubs in the second leg of the Europa League semi-finals.
He then defeated West Ham League, putting Manchester United in 16th place.
Amorim said he would not accept attention from Chelsea, who are competing for the top five and Champions League qualification.
"It's going to be a huge part of the next game, it's going to be a game, so we need to perform, they need to perform, and that's an important thing," he said.
“We can’t spend eight to nine days without a game, it’s a bad thing for the finals.
"We have time to recover. The best thing to prepare for the final is to play the game and then the players have to know if you play or not to play against Chelsea, which doesn't make sense for the final, which is important. I'm just preparing for the game against Chelsea.
United have not won any of their last seven league games in their last seven games, and their last win will be held two months ago against relegated Leicester City.
It's been 35 years since the club went through a worse league format. However, Amorim believes that a consistent league victory is not far away.
He said: "It's hard to talk about this without being like a crazy guy, but if you see XG, like in the last game, our game is even bigger.
"On the other side of the Wolves, we're close and they're scoring. This is the first time they've reached our goal, they're scoring, and we have a chance, especially in the second half.
"I can understand that, but it's hard to talk about that at this moment. Let's focus on doing it in a good way and then we'll be ready by the end of the season."
