Rolando Romero destroys Ryan Garcia's plan

NEW YORK - Friday night in Times Square was supposed to be a memorable event, which made an incredible event lacking action that boxing fans couldn’t achieve.

The plan is to get Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney to win their respective battles and meet the highly anticipated match later this year. Haney persisted in deciding his bargaining, but Rolando “Rolly” Romero played the role of a sabotage, eliminating Garcia’s huge frustration with a helpless night of battle by unanimous decisions (115-112, 115-112, 115-112, 118-109).

In the main event, Garcia was suspended for one year after a failed drug test after a fight with Haney, a disaster. Garcia (24-2, 1 NC) competed in the fight with a -1000 favorite on ESPN bet. However, he was unable to untie his trademark left hook or continue any major attack in the 12 rounds of events.

Instead, Romero (17-2) set the tone early with the left hook in the second round. Although Garcia appears to be uninjured, the knockdown changes the progress of the battle as he goes from desire to timidity in the rest of the battle. No fighter seems to be interested in letting go, with a total of 490 punches and 123 punches. The output is the third lowest in 12 rounds of battles in Compubox history, joining the joint home game even below 503 punches by Haney and Jose Ramirez.

Garcia then said, "He had a good fight." "He came to me early. No excuses, man. Congratulations. He did a great job, that's all."

Garcia popped up a jab, but Romero patiently kept her distance. Romero's performance was surprising, with two fights being stopped by Isaac Cruz in 2024. Romero stays calm and stable in his attitude, rather than running recklessly.

Meanwhile, Garcia was unable to shake the effect of the early knockout and spent some time searching for the fight's fist. He never found it and will now have to go back to the drawing board.

As for Romero, despite winning Friday, he may be the only one who wants to see Garcia-Haney rematch.

"I didn't even think about the next step," Romero said. "I think Devin and Ryan deserve their rematch and do big things."

Expect Garcia and Romero to send out fireworks to make the ring judge’s scorecard unnecessary. Instead, Garcia's uninspiring efforts ended a listless night of battle against the backdrop of Times Square, where a small group of fans gathered in a temporary area to stage a boxing circle. Outside the venue, under the pedestrian forest, many people stopped to see what was happening in the fences on several screens set up outside.

Saudi Arabia General Entertainment Authority Chairman Turki al-Sheikh plans to host an iconic event, but the card will be remembered as a battle of three that did not fulfill the promised action.

The main event was after Haney made the same different efforts, he was let go of the hook by an opponent, and he was content to follow him on the ring. Last year, Haney appeared to be affected by the battle with Garcia, when he was knocked down three times and lost his decision. After Garcia tested positive for the performance-enhancing drug Pratine, the result was overturned to no competition. Garcia also weighs 3.2 pounds in the battle.

Haney (32-0, 1 NC) seems unable to escape the impact of the fight and is timid and reluctant to punch. However, Ramirez cannot be capitalized. He followed Haney around the ring without real urgency. Fortunately for Haney, he was skillfully enough to thwart Ramirez's (29-3) progress, a slow battle that ruthlessly ridiculed on social media.

In 503 punches thrown in the battle, Haney landed 40 times on Ramirez.

It is reported that a contract was signed early on Friday night later this year, and plans for Garcia-Hanney will also be formulated. But, due to how their battles went, it is interesting whether this match was achieved later this year or whether Al-Sheikh decided to go in the other direction against the two fighters.
