Ricki Lake warns fans her name could be used in LA fire fundraising scam after her home was destroyed

Ricki Lake is issuing a warning to fans as she and others struggle to rebuild their lives after Los Angeles' devastating fires.

In a video she shared on Instagram, the "Hairspray" star said the situation was "surreal," especially after she learned there was "a post, impersonating me, asking for money."

"I'm not asking for any money for myself," Lake clarified. "I don't know what happened, but it seems like the post is missing."

"Everything is gone," she wrote underneath a series of photos of her home before the fire. "I can't believe I'm typing these words." Lake said their friends made a "heroic and courageous effort" to save their home, but unfortunately they were unsuccessful. “The place where we planned to grow old together. We have never taken our heavenly location on the bluffs overlooking our beloved Malibu for granted, not even for a second. I get to share our sunsets with all of you almost every day Beautiful view.”

In her latest video post, the former talk show host admitted she was speechless.

“I’m so touched by the love and support I feel from around the world,” she said. "This... I have nothing to say. I'm a f**king talk show host! I have nothing to say about what we're going through as a community in Los Angeles."

She continued, "I just wanted to reach out and say thank you, thank you for keeping us in your thoughts and in your prayers. We will recover, we will."

The 56-year-old became emotional at one point, saying: "My heart bleeds for the people who are going through this with me and I know I'm one of the lucky ones in so many ways. But I'm heartbroken." My community is grieving and I am struggling, but I am also okay. "

"This is different. This is different. This is our entire community, our town and our city. And this, I can't believe it's been a week," said Lake, who lost his home in a 2010 fire. In some ways it feels like last night, but in some ways it feels like five years ago, but I look older. "
