Richard cares about senior talks, sells part of British hotel empire

In a senior discussion, businessman Richard Caring sold a large portion of his hotel business in the UK to the International Holdings Corporation (IHC), which is supervised by its chairman Sheikh Tahnoon Bin Zayed al-Nahyan, e.g. Financial Times.

Sales cover Ivy Restaurants Chain and Annabel's, an exclusive London private membership club.

Potential deals have been considered for some time and have recently gained momentum, possibly over £1 billion ($1.32 billion).

Negotiations could lead to partial exports for care, focusing mainly on the sale of stake in Troia, the entity behind the Ivy Collection, which operates 40 restaurants in the UK and Ireland.

The deal could provide care-related funds to expand its hospitality brand into new markets.

However, details of the deal are still being finalized and discussions involving prices and assets are still variable.

The scope of potential deals has expanded and now may include other assets of care, such as his Mayfair private member club George and Mark Birley Holdings, owned by Mark Birley Holdings, which is jointly owned by former Qatar Prime Minister Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassim bin Jassim bin Jaber al-Thani.

Caring's Portfolio also includes casual dining chains Bill's and Caprice Holdings, which owns premium dining venues Bacchanalia, Sexy Fish and Scott's.

Despite ongoing negotiations, sources stressed that there is no agreement between the IHC and Care.

Caring manages his business through a network of investment vehicles owned by holding companies in Jersey and British Virgin Islands.

Company documents show that TORIA, CAPRICE and MARK BIRLEY HOLDINGS have collectively guaranteed bank loans.

The group IHC already has a diverse portfolio in the hospitality industry.

Its listed subsidiary, Alpha Dhabi Holdings, has control over the National Tourism and Hotel Company, which owns luxury hotels in Abu Dhabi, the Maldives and the Seychelles.

Additionally, through a joint venture with Monterock International, Alpha Dhabi owns stakes in Hospitality brands such as Greek luxury resort chain Nammos.

In September 2024, Care is known to sell Ivy Collection Restaurant Group at London investment firm SI Advisors.
