East Jackson - On May 16, teams from the area headed to East Jackson High School to find team and playoff glory with the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) District 3 District 25 Track and Field Games.
In order for athletes to qualify for MHSAA Level 3 National Finals, individuals must complete the top two in their respective competitions, or meet the scheduled time or distance for the selected event.
In the team standings, the first two teams reached the MHSAA State Finals based on points earned throughout the party. None of the three branch counties heading to Jackson won a spot in the state finals in the women’s game Friday, but several did hit that milestone. The team from Grass Lake won the regional women's championship with 84 points on Friday, while the team from Lumen Christi finished second with 64 points. The Quincy Orioles suffered some heartbroken, lacking layoffs in a single point, ending third place with a 63-pointer. In the game, the Orioles tied for third with Homer. United City ranked eighth with a 37-point lead while Bronson ended with 16 pointsTh With a score of 17 points.
This is a failure of each branch county team and its regional efforts.
Brooklyn Parker Jr. - On Friday, the Orioles' junior obstacles won one gold medal, but two, sweeping in the hurdling game. Parker won the 100-meter obstacle in 15.98 seconds, then won the 300 obstacle victory in 47.38 seconds and participated in both competitions for individual votes for the MHSAA State Finals.
Ashlyn Fickle, freshman -Fickle chose the right time to jump to the best time of personal, do it on a large stage and in the process won a trip to the MHSAA State Finals as Fickle finished third in high jump and earned a 5-foot-2-inch state qualification high jump.
MHSAA provides regional medals for the top 8 in each event. Elizabeth Longardner won the medal at the Quincy Regional Conference in 200 and finished seventh in 200. Elizabeth Craig, 400th; Lenny one year old, fifth in the 3200th; Craig, Kora Timmons, Abby Tinervia and Cheyenne Marske’s 800 relay team, eighth in; Hallie Jones, third in the shot put; Addison Hart, fourth in the shot put rankings, fourth in the discus competition; Brooke McVicker, third in the pole vault; and Abby Tinervia, sixth in the long jump.
Aubree Calloway, Advanced - Calloway is a rare athlete and she seems to be fine no matter what she does. Spring Arbor Bonded Senior won a spot in the MHSAA State Finals in Friday’s first year running and won the gold medal with a 5-foot-3-inch personal best jump.
Miriam Sanchez is also Bronson’s top eight score, with him being 800, eighth, Calloway, Alonna Goodsell and Sanchez’s 1,600-Relay team, eighth.
Skyler Fraley, Sr. - Fraley qualified for the state final in the 3200m, with a 12-minute time in the state qualifying round of 03.62 seconds, ranking third. Fraley broke the long 3200m school record last week, breaking his own record in this week's state qualifier.
The top eight medals in United City in 200, which is 200; Alli Gautsche, fourth in 3200; Alaina LaBar, sixth in 100 obstacles; Kylie Creech, third in 300 hurdles and sixth in pole vaults; Labar, Emme Eyre, Katie Johnson and Hoath's 400 relays, eighth in Johnson, Eyre, Addison Miller and Hoath's 800 relays, fifth in 5th; Alissa Skirka, Gautsche, Parker Williams and Fraley's 3200 relays, fourth in 4th; and Addison Miller (Addison) Miller), seventh in pole vault.
Now, all three teams will end their team season when they head to Quincy High School on Wednesday to win the Big 8 Conference Championship. United City entered the meeting with an unbeaten double match record and hoped to end their second straight meeting championship.
