Read the first address of Pope Leo on the balcony of St. Peter's Basilica

In the first speech on Thursday, Pope Leo 14 Speaking of peace, building bridges and helping those suffering.

The subject of his speech seemed to indicate that he would maintain continuity with his former Pope Francis, in which Leo Xiv thanked him.

Leo XIV stands on the balcony of St. Peter's Basilica, with many people speaking in St. Peter's Square, Italian and Spanish. Here is the translation of his speech:

Peace is with everyone!

Dear brothers and sisters, this is the first greeting of the resurrected Christ, the good shepherd who gave his life to God’s flock. I also hope that greetings to peace come into your heart and reach all people, no matter where they are, all, all, all, all. Peace is with you!

This is the peace of the resurrected Christ, a disarmed peace, a disarmed peace, a disarmed, humble and perseverance. It comes from God, who loves our God unconditionally. We still keep the voice of that weak but always brave Pope Francis blessing Rome in our ears.

Blessed the Pope of Rome to the world, the whole world, on the morning of Easter, and blessed his blessings. Please allow me to follow up with the same blessing: God loves us, God loves all of you, evil will not prevail! We are all in the hands of God. So, join with God and us without fear, and let us move forward. We are disciples of Christ. Christ preceded us. The world needs his light. Humanity needs him because God and His love will reach out. It can also help us, and then help each other, through dialogue and encounter, make us all a person who is always peaceful. Thank you Pope Francis!

I also want to thank all the brothers Cardinals who chose me to be Peter's successor and who walked with you always seek peace, justice, and always try to be as loyal as Jesus Christ as he is, without fear, to preach the gospel, to preach the gospel, to be a missionary.

I am the son of St. Augustine, an Augustinist, who said, “You and I are Christians for you.” In this sense, we can all walk together to the home God has prepared for us.

A special greeting to the Roman church. Together we must find out how to be a missionary church, a church that builds bridges, dialogues, always accepts open like this square with open arms. All, all those who need our charity, our existence, conversation and love.

If you allow me a word, greeting to all, especially to my dear diocese of Chiclayo, in Peru, a faithful person who accompanied their bishops, shared their faith and gave so much dedication to continue to be the faithful church of Jesus Christ.

For all of you, Rome, Italy, brothers and sisters all over the world, we all want to be a convention church, a church walking, a church that always seeks peace, always seeks charity, always trying to keep intimate with those suffering.

Today is the day to pray to Mrs. Pompeii. Our mother, Mary, always wanted to walk with us, be intimate and help us with intercession and love.

So I want to pray with you. Let us pray for peace throughout the church, the world, and let us ask our mother Mary for this special grace.
