Questlove on why he can't get Pavarotti's "SNL" music documentation

Since its inception in 1975, “Saturday Night Live” has proposed showing as many music superstars and rising talents as possible to make it within Studio 8H.

Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Tupac, Rihanna, Mariah Carey, Alicia Keys, Jack White, Radiohead, Lenny Kravitz, Lenny Kravitz, Tom Waits, Coldplay, Bon Jovi, Taylor J. Blige, Mary J. Mars and Prince are just some of the artists that appear on the show. That's why they saw them "Ladies and Gentlemen...50 Years of SNL Music" at some point in the three-hour music documentation.

In recent years, "rooted" superstar Ahmair "Questlove" Thompson has also become the co-director and mastermind of the three-hour documentary. In the 50-year-old performance of the show, especially the best memory, this is the best memory.

He and music montage editor John MacDonald have compiled a list of masters for every song that once appeared on Saturday Night Live. "We watched each episode and separated it," Questlove said.

He took out his phone and showed this list: fast songs, slow songs, jazz songs, gospel songs. The list goes on, and so is the reels-long and comprehensive. He told him: “We’re like a Michelin-starred restaurant, we just analyzed every song.” variety Awards podcast. "It's in E minor, the bridge is in G. So that can connect to the song." Their visual board looks like an episode of "CSI", breaking down how Hansen's song fits in eight other songs.

Another challenge for him was cleaning up the songs. Sometimes it was a problem with the phone call, but he couldn't answer it. "It's the end of Mariah Carey's 'Love Vision', Christina Aguilera's "Beauty" Pavarotti does the same thing, all of these singers hit the same notes. I can't clean up Pavarotti's songs because I have to beg for two seconds there (to Italy) and work hard like I've tried, I've tried it, and I've done it, and that's it, so I'm going to work hard. Pavarotti moment."

His challenge didn't end, and at the last minute he received permission from Marshall Mathers and Paul Rosenberg, including Eminem's "Stan". This gap allows him to seamlessly connect “Stan” to the “survivor” of the destiny child and the “goodbye bye” of *Nsync. When he recalled the challenge, he smiled, "You don't know how difficult and difficult these 12 seconds are!" In the end, the whole montage took 11 months.

Questlove may find itself nominated for two Emmy Awards. Another of his shows, "Crazy Life!

He recalled the Kent town apartment he lived in as a hungry artist decades ago shortly after returning to North London's 2021 BAFTA, looking around. "I let my driver go so that my 50-year-old could be demeaning in his apartment window, a very discouraged version, wondering if he has a future." That young version of himself broke down, but full of dreams. He wanted to symbolically show that he did it.

Ironically, the policeman looked up and wondered why the man was wandering outside the apartment. Questlove, wearing a tuxedo and holding Bafta's clothes, explained himself, and the officer told him it was a good story and walked their way.

This is a great story. He was honored to tell the Londoner. Questlove did it. He won the Oscar, That BAFTA Award for the 2022 Documentary

Later, Questlove talked about how Spike Lee brought him to where he is today. The two admire each other, but he probably wouldn't be here if it weren't for Lee's ad. “My best friend in high school saw a commercial for Spike Lee one day and there was a bustling drummer on the corner and we looked at each other and were like ‘Hey, let’s do it. The deal was to make at least $110 in three hours – it sounded cliché, they did it and the rest was history. “It led to the record deal, which led to life in London, which led to his first Grammy, which led to the moment.” ”

So, what is the next step for celebrities? "I'm a walking example and don't know what's going to happen next. But I'm going to take the next step."

Questlove is working on two unpublished projects, and he says he has done 80% of his work on Earth, wind and fire documentaries. He smiled and said, "I'm not making a promise, but if the movie doesn't come out on September 21, I don't know what I'm doing."

At the roundtable, the new Oscar rules were discussed. And studied the drama competition of the leading actress.
