SEATTLE (AP) — There is no debate about who Washington’s next quarterback is unless injured — a coach Jedd Fisch has long believed.
Demond Williams Jr. As Washington ends spring practice at the annual event Friday night, Fisch is clear that Williams is more than just the undisputed PlayCaller.

"He's definitely a leader," Fez said. "You can certainly feel and see him there. The truth is, now it's his team, he's not sitting down. He can understand that if the offense is trying hard to commit the offense, it's real, it's really up to him."
Williams will be on the reserve team for most of last season in Mississippi State transfers, but Rogers flashed 26 of 32 passes for 374 yards and four touchdowns in the Suns Bowl game against Louisville. This spring, the quarterback was listed at 5-foot-11 and 190 pounds, continuing to flash his keen pass touch, especially on a short-lived rhythmic route.
Despite his short stature, Williams is likely quarterback Fez wants to run out of the Huskimo attack.
"We have 14 weeks (until the regular season starts) and we have to get good together," Fez said. "I'm going to promise to see we can be in tandem as quarterbacks - Playcaller.

Be stronger in tides
This time last year, Fisch simply went all out for the entire lineup of the spring game in his first year as Washington coach. There is absolutely no position, which is more important than the offensive line, as the Huskimo had only seven offensive wingers last May.
Fesch said on Wednesday that he expects 17 offensive wingers to be able to participate.
"The difference is - I mean it's hard to describe because they look better," Fez said. "They have better figures. They have better sports. They play very well as a team."

Fisch highlighted the increase in Carver Willis, a sixth-year offensive tackle who spent his final five seasons at Kansas State. Willis is an honorary award in 2024.
“Get big on the offensive line for us,” Fisch said. "Of course, he's proven to be everything we think he's going to do."
The Rising Rahshawn
Rahshawn Clark, a local product for Garfield High School, stood out before his Redshirt freshman season. Fisch envisions Clark being listed as security, he scored a lot of nickel tickets, while Tacario Davis and Ephesus' prysock are expected to start cornerbacks.

"I'm proud of the way he plays and I think he's going to be a very, very good player for us," Fez said.
Last year, the Huskimos ranked 28th in the United States, with a total yardage against each game (328.4).
New Coordinator
Although Fisch returns for his second season in the Pacific Northwest, he will join him this fall with a pair of new coordinators.
Jimmie Dougherty was Washington’s pass game coordinator and QB coach last year and now is the offensive coordinator and quarterback coach. Purdue former coach Ryan Walters is the new defensive coordinator 5-19 in two seasons leading the boiler manufacturer.

Dougherty is taking over as Brennan Carroll, while Walters assumes the previous position of Stephen Belichick. Carroll and Belichick both followed their father to the next coaching opportunity.
