Ironically, we have been wireless charging fans for a long time. It's so good to find it with a cable! Today, most wireless charging equipment follows the Qi (pronunciation as Chee) standard, which takes time to reach everywhere. (User experience is not always great.) The wireless power consortium of management charging agreement announced in early 2023 the next -generation version called QI2, and we finally started seeing the device that supports it. It is expected to be perfectly aligned and may connect the accessory bridge to Android and iPhone gaps.
Sadly, QI2 has not been launched quickly or extensively as we expected this year. As of August 2024, there was only one QI2 -certified Android phone HMD Skyline (6/10, wired comment), and we were frustrated that it was not used with some older QI chargers. Will QI2 fall off?
Update in August 2024: We have added detailed information about QI2 to clarify different authentication options, and some unpopular news, that is, some QI2 devices cannot charge QI charger.

QI2 is a new open wireless charging standard from the wireless power consortium (WPC), which brings important upgrades to the original QI standard. The title is a magnetic contour (MPP) based on Apple MagsaFe technology. (Apple participates in the development of QI2 standards.) This allows QI2 brand devices to add magnet rings to ensure perfect alignment with the charger and allow faster charging speed.
There is another standard, that is, non -magnetic wireless charging extension power contour (EPP). This leads to some confusion. Per Per WPC's Paul Golden refers to the equipment that meets the specifications, but it is not a formal QI2, so the logo or QI2 device cannot be used. In a email, GOLDEN told the "Wired" that such devices "will carry the QI logo instead of QI2, packaging and/or marketing materials have the required statement, that is, the device does not contain magnets. Any labeled qi2 with QI2 The devices are MPP, which must include magnets. "
QI2 is also completely backward, so you can charge the old Qi Android phone or Magsafe iPhone on the QI2 charger. We have tested a few items, which seems correct. We also expect any old QI charger to charge QI2 device. Although the speed is slow, it turns out that this is not a fact. For example, the HMD skyline is not used with the old Qi chargers we tested, which seems to be the standard of the course. We will have to wait for more QI2 mobile phones to find the answer, but heavyweight characters like Google and Samsung have failed to use QI2 in the latest flagship products, which may be a period of time.

The wireless charging using QI2 has brought some improvements to the original QI standard.
