Paris - Luis Enrique mocked Luis Enrique's position as a "Farmers League" after Paris Saint-Germain won the Champions League final with a 3-1 semi-final victory against the Premier League this season.
PSG won 1-0 in the first leg at the Emirates Stadium last week, completing the Prince's work with the Princes, and the goals of Fabián Ruiz and Achraf Hakimi were Bukayo Saka's 76th minute comfort for Arsenal in Bukayo Saka.
After sealing the Ligue 1 title last month, PSG could do three times if it beats Reims in the France De Coupe de France final on May 24 and then faces Inter in the Champions League final in Munich a week later.
But after being told that PSG made its second appearance after losing to Lisbon’s Bayern Munich in 2020, Luis Enrique joked about the “Farmers League” – a label that stands out, a place for ligue off ligue of ligue of topp of top of top.
"Farmers League, no? We're the Farmers League." "But it's good. We're enjoying the results and everyone is talking about the compliments of our team- our mindset, the way we play. It's good.
"Mikel Arteta is a good friend, but I simply disagree (Arsenal should win). Their plays the way they want and like, but on both legs we scored more goals than they were, which is the most important thing.
“Arsenal’s game is excellent and we have suffered a lot, but we should be in the finals.
“How will you win the Champions League without a great goalkeeper? Today, Gigi (Gianluigi Donnarumma) is doing well, just like he does in every qualifying match, just like against Liverpool.
"How will you win the Champions League without a good defense? They are amazing today."
PSG lost three of the first five league stage games and seemed to be withdrawing from the game in January.
But Luis Enrique, who directed Barcelona to Champions League glory in 2015, said their 4-2 victory against Manchester City in Paris in January was a turning point in their campaign.
"The turning point could be that we lost the 0-2 Manchester City game," Luis Enrique said.
“But in the group stage statistics, we are the best in Europe. We are fair finalists.
"It means a lot. Everyone dreams of going to the Champions League final and the first goal we arrived in Paris was to make history and we went right."
After the Serie A champion eliminated Barcelona in the semi-finals, PSG faced the international front in the final, Luis Enrique said it would be a tough contact for his team.
"Inter Milan is more experienced than our older players, but we want to win the trophy and we will have that mentality in the finals," Luis Enrique said.
"It will be tough, but they will get the same final. It's an interesting final - very difficult for both teams. It's also a special moment for us and them.
"This is their second final in three years, so they're a great team. We have time to plan, but now it's time to celebrate."
