Prescott says his "excited" cowboy pairs with lamb

FRISCO, Texas - Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott said he has been in touch with new acquisition wide receiver George Pickens and will be on-site at the start of the organized team event next week.

Count Prescott was excited about the Pickens, who scored 174 passes with the Pittsburgh Steelers in three seasons, 2,841 yards and 12 touchdowns.

"You open the video and see a guy who can catch up with football," Prescott said on Wednesday in Dallas in 1310. "You put the football anywhere near him, very strong. Over 50-50 catcher. He thought it was his ball when his ball. I was excited for him. I know we need some help in that position."

The Cowboys looked for an extensive receiver opposite Ceedee Lamb to get them watching Tetairoa McMillan in the NFL draft, but he went to Dallas before the selection. They held talks with many teams and sent 2026 third-round picks to Pittsburgh and exchanged fifth and sixth-round picks in 2027.

"I know ceedee needs some help, and I think when you have someone like that, I hear George say it's hard to juggle both," Prescott said. "And then, when you get other people, whether it's (tight Jack Ferguson), Jalen Tolbert, Jonathan Mingo, someone who has been representing and knows how to open up in the league, I think we're building a good set of weapons."

Some in the organization say Pickens reminded them of former Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant, the series’ historical leader in touchdown reception.

"He's an Uber competitor, and we have the same competitor in Dez Bryant," Jones said in an interview with "Schein on Sports," hosted by Adam Schein. "I mean, he's just not enough.

“He’s sometimes full of excitement and… It’s known that when you’re playing sports, playing and playing a lot of emotions, sometimes you can make bad decisions here and there. We have a decision with Dez, but he certainly knows he wants to keep working hard, like Dez, like he’s always encountered in that week’s game, he’s definitely going to meet in the week’s game, and that’s what he’s going to meet in the week, and that’s what he’s going to meet in the week, and that’s what he’s going to compete in the week.

Jones added that the Cowboys did a lot of "homework" at Pickens and found out that "he is on his teammate's lover."

"They want him to join their team. We feel the same about Dez., and we just feel like he's going to bring something to our organization, which is what we need and bring the energy of the competition to the scene, every day, every day, a week, a week, a week, a week, a week."
