Predicting the Chargers' 2025 53-man lineup

The 2025 NFL Draft is over, and it's time to start checking out the charger's lineup in this upcoming season. It's not completely final, but it's mostly set at this point in the offseason.

As we participate in an Organized Team Event (OTA) approaching, let’s predict what the 53-man lineup looks like.

Quarterback (3): Justin Herbert, Trey Lance, Tyler Heinick

There is nothing to write about here except Lance and Heinicke fighting for the backup role.

Defender (5): Omario Hampton, Naji Harris. Kimani Vidal, Hassan Haskins, Scott Matlock (FB)

The Chargers won a home run draft pick and started the first round of Hampton’s draft pick. Haskins sticks with the impact on special teams, while Vidal learns for another year behind two veterans. Matlock sticks with his versatility between the defender and the defensive line.

Recipients (6): Ladd McConkey, Mike Williams, Quentin Johnston, Tre Harris, Derius Davis, Keandre Lambert-Smith

After using two draft picks on a massive scale, the group's size, speed, youth and veteran leadership are all good. Both of these rookies make the team expect to contribute immediately.

Tight End (3): Tyler Conklin

This position was not resolved until later in the draft, so it remains a long-term demand. Teams can still join this position before the season. The top three can be played in any order of the 2025 season, so it will be a game to watch.

Offensive Line (9): Rashawn Slater, Zion Johnson, Joe Alt, Bradley Bozeman, Mekhi Becton, Andre James, Trey Pipkins, Jamaree Salyer, Branson Taylor

Set all positions except left back and center. It is not surprising to see the front desk adding another or two bodies to this set of camps.

Defensive Line (6): Teair Tart, Otito Ogbonnia, Justin Eboigbe, Da'shawn Hand, Naquan Jones, Jamaree Caldwell

The charger solved this position in the third round, which can be said to be the team's biggest need. Caldwell will take over Poona Ford's former nose tackle role.

Linebacker/Edge (8): Daiyan Henley, Junior Colson, Troy Dye, Denzel Perryman, Khalil Mack, Bud Dupree, Tuli Tuipulotu, Kyle Kyle Kennard

The charger should feel good another location group. Colson is the X factor here, because we'll see if he can take Perryman in the starting role with Henley.

Cornerback (5): Cam Hart, Tarheeb Still, Benjamin St Juste, Donte Jackson, Ja'sir Taylor

Deane Leonard was left out of the group and looked slightly different from last year. Jesse Minter will need Hart and still avoid sophomore downturns, even better than they did in the 2024 rookie campaign.

Safety (5) Dewin James, Elijah Moulden, Aloshi Gilman, Tony Jefferson, RJ Mickens

Mickens is the sixth round pick, the fifth safe team and has the opportunity to be a contributor to a special team.

Special Team (3): Cameron Dicker, JK Scott, Josh Harris

Unless you are surprised, the group will remain unchanged in 2025.
