De acordo com o Diretor Geral da Política de Defesa português, o relacionamento com Santotom e Principe "So Old" permitiu a formação de quase 300 São Tomenses em Portugal, de academias militares aos cursos mais altos e quase mil tropas de Sao Tome e Prince.
