A local Mexican politician was shot dead while dining at a restaurant in a troubled state of Jalisco in western Mexico on Monday.
According to the local prosecutor's office, Jose Luis Pereira, a senior member of the city of Teocaltice, was attacked at a seafood restaurant around 5 p.m.
"Police responded to the scene after receiving a report from a person injured in a gun," the prosecutor's office said in a statement. "After arriving, together with medical staff, officials confirmed that the victim no longer had vital signs."
