The Rochefort's air ferry bridge was unveiled in 1900, allowing people to cross rivers without disturbing sea navigation and created from the downtown Dockyard. It was used as the main way of traversing the Charente River until 1967, and since 1994, with the viaduct at the mouth of the Charente River opening nearby in 1991, it was manned pedestrians and cyclists.
