Alonso's uncertain return to the Mets is one of the most watched storylines in the Major League Baseball offseason. Team owner Steve Cohen expressed doubts that the team will re-sign the Star Drag on its appearance in late January "Amazin" Day.

Cohen said that compared with Alonso's negotiations, Juan Soto's negotiations were "serious" to sign with the team during the offseason.

"We've made an important proposal to Pete, and David is right. He has the right to go out and explore his own market," Cohen said. "That's what he's doing. Personally, it's a slight order," he said. Exhausted conversation and negotiation. I mean, Soto is hard. It's worse."

Despite this, Cohen never ruled out Alonso's return.

"I will never say no. It's always possible. But the reality is that we're moving forward and we keep bringing players. As we continue bringing players, the reality is that it's getting Pitt into what we already have is becoming more difficult A very expensive group of players.

"I'm cruel honest. I don't like negotiations, I don't like what is shown to us, maybe it will change. Of course, I'll always be flexible. If it keeps it this way, I think we think we'll have to. Get used to the fact that we may have to move forward with existing players. ''

Now, Alonso returns to Queens and will be paired with Soto for at least one season.
