Oscar-winning documentary Luc Jacquet (Penguin Parade) will hold the jury for the 2025 immersive competition at this year's Cannes Film Festival to judge VR and interactive productions in this year's lineup (see the full list below).
Jacquet is known for his award-winning documentary Unknown land The exhibition takes visitors from Patagonia to Antarctica on a virtual journey.
Japanese video game designer Tetsuya Mizuguchi, Rez and Tetsuya Mizuguchi, creator of Tetris Effect, joined Jacquet to join the jury in Cannes. American artist Laurie Anderson, her latest multidisciplinary work premieres Ark: American V Last year in Manchester; British director Martha Fiennes, known for pioneering an AI-powered film environment; and French writer and performer Tania de Montaigne, his work Neuer Last year, he won the Cannes Award for Best Immersive Work.
Nine works will compete for the best immersive award and will be announced in Cannes on May 22. The choice spans nine countries, including a mix of virtual reality, mixed reality and interactive devices. Interactive selection will play a role in the dedicated space of the Carlton Hotel during the Cannes Film Festival from May 14 to 23.
