PBS closes DEI office, announcing diversified officials in response to Trump's execution order

PBS has closed its offices for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), and its diversity officials are responding to President Donald Trump's executive order.

PBS confirmed the news on Monday in a statement to Fox News Digital.

“To best ensure we comply with the President’s executive orders surrounding diversity, equity and inclusion, we have closed the DEI office. Staff serving in that office will leave PBS. We will continue to abide by our mission values.

PBS President and CEO Paula Kerger sent a memo earlier in the day and told her colleagues that they decided to close their offices after working with Trump’s executive order on DEI, the New York Times reported. .

Kelger wrote: "To ensure we comply with the president's executive orders, we closed the DEI office, Cecilia and Gina Leow left PBS. I know you and I are working together in the future. I wish them all the best.”

“Our mission is to educate, engage and inspire the wide variety of American communities we serve will continue to be the center of our work, and we will continue to make sure that PBS remains a passionate place for everyone.”

Lauf announced in 2021 as Senior Vice President of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, her job is to “determine opportunities based on PBS’ internal commitment to DEI”, “collaborate across departments to evaluate current business practices” and “ With The The Working public television system supports the station's "continuous efforts around DEI".

Leow was also hired as Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in 2021.
