The New England Patriots are one of the widest receiving rooms in the NFL in 2024. But to give Drake Maye as much help as possible, the wide takeover room became crowded. With that crowded room, the Patriots will have to make some tough decisions.

In the mail bag of Phil Perry of NBC Sports in Boston, he predicted that the Patriots would cut three young receivers in the team's crowded room. The three players he mentioned are Ja'lynn Polk, Kayshon Boutte and Javon Baker.

"I think Polk, Butter and Javon Baker are based on the numbers and records of other players in the roster, right on the bubble," Perry wrote.

The Patriots’ wide receiver room has nine players with the chance to make a roster. Stefon Diggs signed a three-year, $63 million contract, while Kyle Williams was selected as a third-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Mack Hollins signed a one-year contract worth $3.5 million, while Demario Douglas and Kendrick Bourne are the other players most likely to be in the roster.

Since the five wide receivers have become "locks" and the last 53-man lineup can be made, there is not much room left. Polk, Boutte, Baker and unsigned free agent Efton Chism II are the candidates most likely to make a lineup after five locks.

While the Patriots can keep two of these four players into the bubble, it seems likely that the Patriots will leave multiple of these receivers. Boutte raised trade speculation, and the 2024 draft pick also caused great disappointment.

For those who previously played second round at Polk, the Atlanta Falcons could be a trade destination, pairing him with Michael Penix’s college quarterback. Although Boutte trades George Pickens for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

At the forefront of the Patriots lineup, there will be teams interested in a wide range of recipients. While the Patriots won’t reclaim the value they spend on them, they can purify a third of the draft pick or picky one-third of the day, rather than gaining nothing.

Perry's predictions about Polk, Boutte and Baker can all be improved through the wide receiver room. This is a good question for the Patriots, and like a year ago, the Patriots will get any help in the positions they can get.
