Paris Hilton raised $800,000 in emergency relief funds in 72 hours after losing her Malibu home to a fire in Los Angeles. Hilton teamed up with her nonprofit 11:11 Media Impact to quickly mobilize to help after the catastrophic fires.
She initially pledged $100,000 to help affected families through Community Organized Relief Operations (CORE) and pledged to match donations up to $100,000. She also volunteered at Baby2Baby and the Pasadena Humane Society, where she fostered a surrender dog named Zuzu.
Yesterday, Hilton announced that she had donated $150,000 of the $800,000 raised to a GoFundMe wildfire relief fund to provide immediate cash assistance to 150 Altadena families.
"After meeting with people affected by the Los Angeles wildfires, I heard stories of loss that were heartbreaking, but also inspiring, of resilience," Hilton said in a statement. type. The artist revealed she lost her Malibu home last week and said she "couldn't accept" the news after seeing where her home burned to ashes. "This house is more than just a place to live—it's a place where we dream, laugh, and create some of our best memories as a family," she wrote. "There, Phoenix's little hands created art that I will cherish forever, and love and life filled every corner... It was devastating beyond words."
Hilton wrote on Instagram that she was "heartbroken to see everyone's lives uprooted by these devastating fires" and wanted to serve the community. "While I lost my home in Malibu, my thoughts are with the countless families who have lost much more — their homes, cherished keepsakes, the community they loved, and their sense of stability," she wrote.
More than 10,000 structures were destroyed and more than 130,000 people were displaced by fires in the Los Angeles area, including in Pacific Palisades, Malibu and Altadena. Many celebrities also lost their homes, including Mandy Moore, Billy Crystal and Jenny Aiko.
