"Parasite" producer Miky Lee received the Ellis Island Medal of Honor

CJ Group Vice Chairman Miky Lee is the power player behind Oscar history creator "Parasite" and will add another honor to her collection when she receives the Ellis Island Medal of Honor.

The executive, who spent three decades in elevating South Korean entertainment activities to a driver of international popularity, joined the 2025 elite roster, which included Oscar winner Adrien Brody, Pfizer's Albert Bourla and Nobel Prize winner Dr. James Patrick Allison and former energy secretary Steven Chu.

"We are delighted to include Miky Lee as one of the prominent winners of the year," the Ellis Island Honors Association said in announcing Lee's choice. "For the past three decades, Miky Lee, vice president of CJ Group, has been elevating Korean culture to the world stage. She has played the role of Korean cinema as executive producers of breakthrough films like "Parasite" such as 'Parasite' (the first non-English language film that won the Oscar County Best Picture Award and decided to leave."

Lee became an early Dreamworks investor in 1995. Her most recent production credits include the A24's highly acclaimed "Previous Life" and the best sight for an Oscar nomination.

The Korean giant currently serves on several high-profile boards, including the Academy Film Museum, Berkeley School of Music, International School of Television Arts and Sciences, the Hammer Museum and the Otis School of Arts and Design.

The Ellis Island Medals of Honor, officially recognized by the US Senate and House of Representatives, boast an illustrious history of recipients since their 1986 inception, including eight US presidents, Nobel laureates Elie Wiesel and Malala Yousufzai, cultural icons Frank Sinatra and Rita Moreno, civil rights piloter Rosa Parks and legendary journalist Mike Wallace.

Lee's latest honors join a series that includes the 2022 International Emmy Awards, the Academy's Pillar Award, the Geumgwan Cultural Performance Order (2023) in Korea and the Atlantic Council's Global Citizenship Award (2024).

The ceremony will be held on May 10 in the lobby of Ellis Island.
