Packers HB Coach highlights Josh Jacobs' development this offseason

The Green Bay Packers running game is the definition of the offense in 2024, not because of a passing game struggle, but the other way around. The Packers' EPA ranks sixth in every pass. But Josh Jacobs was Green Bay's top offensive player last year, and when he was a big part of the game's plan, it's hard for the defense to stop them from moving the chain.

Last year, Jacobs has achieved the most yards after contact with a running Packers since Ryan Grant in 2008. He ranked second in rushing touchdowns and sixth in rushing yards and 10-plus runs. His 90.6 PFF rushing class is fifth among qualified defenders. Even with all this, the packer still thinks the best still remains in the future.

In Wednesday's media availability, Packers RB coach Ben Sirmans provided high praise to the team for everything Jacobs brings on and off the court.

"This guy is Doug, not only the way he carries the ball, but just his presence," Searmans said. "They have both the appearance on the court and in the locker room, and they have the penetration of the presence on the court. Because you can touch the ball more than anyone else except the quarterback, so you can impact anyone else more than anyone else. We hope we can provide all the maneuvers we have.

Sirmans also talked about how the three-time professional bowlers view this offseason.

"His agility, his ability to cut, he does training, explode...I mean, he looks better this year than last year," he said. "He practices the same way he plays. He wants to set the tone for every opportunity and try to get people to follow and match that mentality."

The Packers should have one of the league’s youngest rosters in 2025, and the more players are willing to strengthen their leadership roles. Josh Jacobs is a beast in 2024, and if he takes his game to another level, there is no reason why he shouldn't believe he's earned an all-career honor for the second time in his career, and more importantly, it's one of the cornerstones of playing Green Bay's successful Super Bowl run.
