NEW YORK (AP) - In the playoffs, the Indiana Pacers and the New York Knicks face each other eight times.

Head bump
The first playoff meeting between the two teams was in the first round of the 1993 playoffs. The Knicks led 2-0 and tried to finish the sweep of five best series when defender John Starks thought Reggie Miller had escaped the foul and was frustrated. Starks leaned over and hit Miller as they ran to Diss racing face to face to exchange words. Starks is popped up and the Pacers continue to win the game.
choke!
In Game 5 of the 1994 Eastern Conference Finals, the Knicks rose 70-58 to appear to lead 3-2. Miller then scored 25 points in the fourth quarter, summoning the Pacers with a 93-86 victory to mock the Knicks superfan Nail Lee on the sideline by sending a choke signal. The Knicks will win the next two games to reach the NBA finals.
8 minutes, 9 seconds
Miller's fanaticism that steals the first game in the 1995 Eastern Conference semifinals remains one of the most memorable and unlikely comebacks in NBA history. The Knicks led 105-99, and then Miller quickly came in from the sideline at Indiana with 16 seconds left with 16 seconds left. He then stole Anthony Mason's inbound pass, dribbled backwards, and shot the game in three other games. Starks then missed two free throws, Patrick Ewing missed the follow-up shot, Miller grabbed the rebound, fouled, and double free throws to a 107-105 score with 7.5 seconds left.
"Mason choked and threw it to me, I played 3, and when Sam (Mitchell) fouled, we almost cost us, but John Starks choked and we got bigger," Miller said in an interview with NBC on the court after the game.
LJ's 4-point drama
The highlight of New York's entry into the 1999 NBA Finals was the No. 8 seed game, the third game against the Pacers in the Eastern Conference Finals. With the Knicks falling 91-88, Larry Johnson was fouled by Indiana's Antonio Davis with 5.7 seconds left. Johnson scored a free throw to finish the four-pointer while the Knicks won 92-91.
