Overseas bets are identified in death threats against Lance McCullers of Astros

Texas police have identified a person from overseas as someone who is allegedly targeted at a death threat Houston Astronauts Pitcher Lance McCullers Jr. and his family faced the Cincinnati Reds last month.

"Investigators talked to him, and he said he lost money on the Astros game and was frustrated and shocked when he lashed out on social media," the spokesman said. "He was sorry and asked investigators to apologize and pass it on to the McCarles family."

Astros reported hiring McCullers and their families for 24 hours of security after receiving an online threat to the team. The Astronauts also contacted the MLB Security and Houston Police Department of these issues.

McCullers said he had to try to explain the situation to his 5-year-old daughter.

"She asked me when she came home, 'Dad, it's like what threat? Who wants to hurt us? Who wants to hurt me?" McCullers told the Associated Press recently. “So these conversations are hard to deal with.”

McCullers, who returned after missing two full seasons with injuries, said coping with threats was the worst thing that has happened in his career.

"People should want us to succeed," said the father of two. "We want to succeed, but it should not pay the price for our families, the children in our lives, and have to feel unsafe in their residence or in the playplace."

Police said that as the charges have not been filed, the people at the center of these threats have not been identified. ESPN Report The case remains open.
