Peck and Noblezada begin a 16-week run at the August Wilson Theater on March 31. Rumors about their casting began to surface on social media in late December last year.

"I grew up as an actor, working in theatre, and for a lot of people it's a very coveted role in musical theater because it's so open to interpretation and such an incredible role, ” Peck told me in a phone interview before the casting was announced. "This has been my dream role since I was a young actor."

Peck, whose self-taped audition included a performance of "Willkommen," joked that he wouldn't be wearing his signature mask in "Cabaret." “I will say this — people have to buy a ticket to find out,” he said.
