On January 10, Brazilian Olympian Bruno Lobo rescued a drowning woman off the coast of San Luis, Brazil, and gave all credit to God for allowing him to complete this heroic deed.

"All glory and glory to God for the day he used me as an instrument to save this young woman," one post on Instagram (translated from Portuguese) read.

Lobo is also an orthopedic surgeon and has competed in kitesurfing at the 2024 Paris Olympics. He is also a two-time Pan American Games champion.

He said in the video that he was busy training at the time of the rescue. Lobo claimed that he entered the sea "for a final test" at about 5:40 pm local time.

"It was a cloudy day and the wind conditions were not the best, but I decided to test the support that had arrived, it was the first day with this material, I set up the camera to record and walked towards the coast," he said in the video.

Then he saw her.

"After sailing a few meters, I heard a cry for help and saw the drowning girl. I quickly approached her with the kite and tried to calm her down and let her climb on my back. She was very tired and had no strength." I used the equipment to get her safely to the beach,” Lobo continued.

Lobo used his gear to help bring the woman back to shore, where she was then given further assistance by lifeguards.

World Sailing released a statement on Monday praising Lobo's heroics.

The statement read: "Olympic kitesurfer Bruno Lobo was training with his new camera off the coast of San Luis, Brazil, when he spotted a woman struggling in the sea and he took immediate action. He used his kite to bring her safely to shore "Well done, Bruno."

Bruno ended the video with a warning to fans and viewers.

“Please be aware of the dangers in oceans, rivers and anywhere you don’t know as the currents tend to be very strong in some places!”
