NY Liberty makes WNBA history against Connecticut Suns

NY Liberty makes WNBA history against the Connecticut Suns initially appear on Athlon Sports.

It was quickly out of control at the Barclays Center on Sunday afternoon. In front of 17,415 fans, New York Liberty jumped out with a 31-13 lead in the first quarter and then blowed 60-28 in the half. On the final buzzer, Freed scored a huge 48-point victory in one of the most important performances of the season.

The Connecticut Suns have no answer and have fallen to 1-5 this season. Meanwhile, freedom stays perfect, improves with victory 6-0, continuing its best start in franchise history.

According to Geoff Magliocchetti, a SI Network covering freedom, the victory is a historic one:

“Freedom to be the first player on the first team with four different players in @WNBA history, with at least 40.

Freedom becomes the first team @wnba There are at least 40 of the history of having four different players.
Only two other teams have achieved this feat before#wnba#lightitupnyl

Sabrina Ionescu led the free with 18 points, but only 18 minutes due to unbalanced scores. Even in the limited action, she posted a +38 addition, which looked sharp.

Breanna Stewart and Natasha Cloud tied for the highest point of the match at +44. Leonie Fiebich is followed by +43, with Jonquel Jones falling behind at +40. The balanced team effort shows how big and dangerous this free squad can be when firing on all cylinders.

On the other hand, the sun was a tough afternoon. Tina Charles and rookie Jacy Sheldon scored 10 points each, but there was little else to celebrate when Connecticut tried to stop or generate momentum.

The sun will reunite when they host the Atlanta Dream. Free travel to Washington, facing the Mystics on Thursday, aiming to expand their unbeaten winning streak and keep building momentum.

The last team to post four players with free throws of 40 or more? The Los Angeles Clippers did this on January 15 in the Brooklyn Nets' 126-67 blowout. Norman Powell, Ivica Zubac, Kawhi Leonard and Derrick Jones Jr. were part of that historic night.
