The determination of the forest shines

Forest's now-famous ability to limit their opponents' low-quality chances was evident in the early stages. Liverpool had nine shots on target in the first half, but none were on target, and none were as clear-cut as the chance Wood so clinically seized on early in the game.

Score the first goal and then go in? This has become a hallmark of Nuno Forest, who frustrated Liverpool for long periods of time, setting up bodies between the ball and goal, obstructing space behind and posing a considerable threat on the counter-attack.

Player of the match: Murillo

Analysis from Sky Sports' Nick Wright:

"There were a lot of good performances from Nottingham Forest players but Murillo was probably their best option ahead of Seles, whose save was very important.

"The centre-back is like a magnet, attracting the ball in Forest's penalty area and repelling almost everything else. He made a total of 18 clearances, the most in the Premier League all season."

"Previous highest goalscoring tally? Murillo was also responsible, making 15 clearances in Forest's draw with Brighton in September. Beating his own record and leaving his mark on the Premier League "Excellent defender."
