In just a few years, Noah Kahan brought from a mid-successful singer-songwriter in Vermont to top hit singer and Grammy nominee for his 2022 album Bad season and single with the same name. Now, director Nick Sweeney and four companies have written a documentary on Kahan's journey. The film is currently untitled and is currently being released and distributors bring it to the general audience.
According to the press release, the film follows Kahan on a series of tours, titled performances at Madison Square Garden and two performances at Fenway Park. The latter was live streamed to support his mental health program Busy People project, which has reportedly raised more than $4 million in funding to expand access to mental health care and anti-stigma. “As his tour ended, he returned to Vermont to cope with the pressure of his success, follow its challenges and personal struggles he never shared,” the release said. “In this intimate look, Kahan reconnects with the people and places who shape him, while simultaneously through the challenges of life and changing relationships.”
The documentary comes from live ethnic works, federal films, Polygram Entertainment and Gadicalmedia. Filmmakers seek distributors, which are represented by CAA.
Kahan told 2023 Rolling stones His hot “Big Season” was partly due to some social media anxiety. He felt behind on Tiktok and wanted to write something he could share there. "We all do it - don't pretend we don't," Kahan said. "I hope to see if people comment on this, if they're watching it, just refresh it like an absolute madman. No one, I was like, 'Man, I sucked. … It smells sucked, I sucked, I was the worst!' I thought of my worst thoughts and woke up the next morning and did a great job, and I thought, "I'm the best, yes! '
"It's incredible to see it succeed on tiktok and have this universal relevance in people making their own lyrics and creating their own storylines," Kahan said. "It's so nice to see that I can do something that might be related to the lives of many different people."
