One might argue that Caitlin Clark is the most valuable player in the WNBA even though she is not off the court on Wednesday.
That's because the fever suffered the worst losses of the young WNBA season in the first game of Indiana fever since Indiana fever suffered a limb injury.
Washington Mystics defeated Clark's No Clark's Hot 83-77 Wednesday night.

The fever started to heat up, leading 10-4, and even a little bit ahead in the second quarter.
But from the remaining 5:47 in the second second to the statute with 5:03 in the regulations, the Mystics defeated the fever 46-32. Their 11-point lead (73-62) was their biggest lead of the night until less than a minute of garbage time left for free throws.
Indiana scored seven points in the last 22 seconds to avoid double-digit losses, but most of the last 25 minutes were mystics.

Fever The first two losses of the season totaled three-pointers - they lost to the Atlanta Dream and two in the dominant champion New York Freedom game. In both games, fever had the ball in the last few seconds.
Their 77 points were also the lowest scores they scored throughout the season. They have previously scored 93, 90, 81 and 88 points.
Clark is scheduled to miss at least two weeks in his injury in the right four-sided side. The point difference for fever was +37 in their first four games.
The former Iowa Hawkeye averaged 19.0 points, 9.3 assists and 6.0 rebounds in four games in the 2025 season. Last year, she set a record of the most assists in a year, a way to win the Rookie of the Year. Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell tied for four assists that night. The entire fever was only 15 that night - Clark scored 19 records in the WNBA record of 19 last July 17.
Dewanna Bonner dropped 21 points from the bench to lead the fever.

Clark scored a season-high 27 points in a dream last Tuesday. She dropped over 20 points in each of the first two games, then ranked only 11 on Thursday, then played against free agency on Saturday.
