New Jersey transit engineers began a strike Friday morning, affecting hundreds of thousands of commuters.

While travelers have decreased during the typical Friday pandemic, there are two huge sporting events in New York, and on Friday night, most participants need to find an alternative route.

On Friday, the subway series between the New York Yankees and the Mets in the Bronx began, and it was not uncommon for New Jersey residents to take the train to Pennsylvania Station.

From there, fans can take the subway as the B, D and 4 trains all stop at E 161st Street -Yankee Stadium.

The Bronx Stadium can hold more than 52,000 fans, including the standing room, and the number of fans will undoubtedly be close to that number in the off-road competition. However, some brave souls must now choose to become designated drivers.

But driving into the Bronx is certainly not the worst option.

Perhaps the harder commute on Friday night will be the sixth game between the Knicks and the Boston Celtics.

Although the arena can only accommodate about one-third of the Yankee Stadium can, the MSG is actually located above Penn Station, just in central Manhattan, where driving is already painful.

If the Knicks win the game, it goes without saying that fans will go to the streets to party, like they do after most playoffs. Seventh Avenue was closed after defeating Boston in Game 4.

Friday is the last Knicks game to be played on MSG at least at least Wednesday, but if Boston wins Friday and then wins in Game 7 Monday, the Knicks season is over. However, the Subway Series opened six games for the Bronx Bombers, which stretched through Thursday.

On top of that, Shakira and Pitbull held a concert Friday at the 82,500-seat Metropolitan Life Stadium, which owns its own NJ Transit Station.

It is estimated that nearly 270 million passengers attend NJ Transit each year.
