New Orleans - Buffalo quarterback Josh Allen won the NFL MVP in the NFL honors show at the Seg Theater on Thursday, one of the closest votes to recent memory, Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson was eliminated.
Allen scored 27 votes and 383 points total, while Jackson scored 23 votes and 362 points total - a voter ranked him fourth.
Also announced is the 2025 Professional Football Hall of Fame class, Chargers' tight-fitting Antonio Gates, Packers' catcher Sterling Sharpe, Chiefs and Vikings' defensive end Ja Jared Allen, along with Eric Allen, the cornerback of the Hawks, Saints and Raiders, were selected.
Sharpe and his brother Shannon became the first pair of brothers in NFL history, each of which was elected to the Hall of Fame. Many people think it will be Peyton and Elie Manning, but Elie didn't play in the first vote, arguably the biggest story of the election cycle this year, despite Luke Kuhealy Kuechly also failed to be the first time with a stronger resume.
Meanwhile, Saquon Barkley was unable to receive NFL honors Thursday night to receive his offensive player of the year award. He had a Sunday game to play.
Barkley and the Philadelphia Eagles' Monster Season 1 will end on Sunday with the Super Bowl Lions Awards, now including awards for the highest offensive player in the NFL. Barkley, the league’s annual awards ceremony, was one of the biggest champions in the NFL honors on Thursday.
Lamar Jackson is a first-team global quarterback, but the same 50 voters have selected Allen as the MVP. This is Allen's first MVP award after his outstanding season with the Bills.

Barkley rushed for 2,005 yards this season, one of the great seasons ever in NFL history. He became the sixth straight win or receiver and won the Opoy Award.
Barkley signed free agents with the Eagles in the offseason after six seasons with the New York Giants. Daniels was a big moment for becoming a rookie, and he changed the commander's franchise.
Daniels (The Chicago Bears didn't have time to release, throwing five touchdowns, including one second with six remaining to beat the ultimate NFC champion Philadelphia Eagles and lead the playoff victory to beat Tan Pa Bay Buccaneers and Detroit Lions.

"I just think my coaching staff and the entire organization make me comfortable and make me myself," Daniels said.
Daniels won 49 of 50 votes, with another one entering the Las Vegas Raiders' nervous Brock Bowers.
Poetry was the 19th overall pick in the draft and helped the Rams to the next defensive stage after Aaron Donald retired. The scriptures have 66 tackles and 4.5 sacks.
He is the Rams' defensive rookie of the year since Donald in 2014.
Poetry won 37 votes, and Hawks cornerback Quinyon Mitchell won 7 and 4 players.
Burrow's 2023 season ended with a wrist injury, but he returned to strength. He is an MVP finalist and leads the NFL with passes and touchdowns.
Burrow also won the comeback player of the year when he returned from the ACL in 2021.
The Vikings won't be a playoff contender this season and then suffer a knee injury at the end of the season in December. But the Vikings were 14-3, Sam Darnold had a revival season at quarterback, and O'Connell was awarded the NFL coach of the year. O'Connell has a 34-17 record in three seasons as a Vikings coach.
This is a close vote. O'Connell won 25 votes, Detroit Lions coach Dan Campbell finished second, with 19 votes and 19 votes, and Andy Reid of the Kansas City Chief.
Armstead won the NFL Community Service Award for his first nine seasons of his career with the 49ers before joining the Jaguars in the offseason. In 2019, he established the Armstead Academic Program (AAP), which focuses on improving literacy rates.
San Diego Charger fans have reason to celebrate again.
The charger moved to Los Angeles after the 2016 season, bringing heartache and old memories to San Diego fans. Many of these memories include the nervous Antonio Gates, who was elected to the Professional Football Hall of Fame for the second time in the ballot. He is a member of the 2025th grade, and the course was announced Thursday at the NFL Honors Awards.
The rest of the class includes defensive end Jared Allen, cornerback Eric Allen and receiver Sterling Sharpe.
Gates scored 11,841 yards and 116 touchdowns in San Diego and 14 of his last two seasons in Los Angeles. He was an eight-time professional bowler, three-time global competition, and a member of the team in the 2000s. Gates’ Hall of Fame story is incredible when considering the often told story he didn’t play college football. He played basketball in Eastern Michigan for one year, then played two seasons at Kent State. In his last basketball season, he averaged 20.6 points per game. This athletic ability is transferred to the NFL.
"This is the best feeling in the world," Gates said after the announcement. "There is no way to describe this feeling. You're just life at that time and thankful."
Jared Allen was one of the premier pass stormtroopers of his era, leading the NFL twice, including 22 seasons in 2011. Allen has 136 professional sacks and has four teams (Chief, Vikings, Bears, Bears, Black Panthers).
Eric Allen is a six-time professional bowler with 14 years of career interceptions in the Hawks, Raiders and Saints.
Sharpe's career was shortened by a neck injury but led the NFL three catches in seven seasons. In those seven seasons, he had 8,134 yards and 65 touchdowns, all with the Packers. He joined Shannon Sharpe, his brother of the Professional Football Hall of Fame.
