NFL fine Falcons, DC Jeff Ulbrich in Shedeur Sanders prank

The NFL fined the Atlanta Falcons $250,000 and defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich $100,000 to deal with Ulbrich's prank appeal to Shedeur Sanders in the NFL draft.

Ulbrich's 21-year-old son admitted to the prank call and apologized in an Instagram post on Sunday. Jax Ulbrich wrote down the numbers for his father's public iPad in a "later prank call" at his parents' home, the Falcons said in a statement Sunday.

The NFL said the fines were intended to "fail to prevent the disclosure of confidential information before the NFL draft."

"We thank the NFL for its rapid and thorough review of the data exposure last week and the events that occurred during this period. We actively addressed this situation internally with the league throughout the process, and accepted people who were disciplined and accepted coach Jeff Ulbrich and the organization. We will continue in our safety strategies and practices in both Jeff Ulbrich and the organization, and work on their safety strategies and practices so that they are so dependent on our efforts to enable us to adapt to our scope."

The Falcons added: "The Ulbrich family is working with the organization to participate in community service programs related to last week's affairs."

The NFL is still investigating other prank calls to players during the draft, but it says they have nothing to do with Sanders' calls.

As Sanders continued to wait for the name of the second day of Friday’s draft, surfaced on the social media of Colorado quarterbacks, a call was received that imitated New Orleans Saints general manager Mickey Loomis.

The caller told Sanders: "We're going to take you next option, man, but you have to wait a little longer, man. Sorry for that."

A confused Sanders asked the crowd to gather for his draft: "What does that mean?"

Jax Ulbrich wrote in his post that what he did was “totally unforgivable, awkward and shameful.” He said Sanders accepted his call earlier.

"I'm sorry I took it away from your moment, which is selfish and childish," Jax Ulbrich said in his Instagram post. "I can never imagine preparing to celebrate one of the greatest moments of your life, I made a horrible mistake and messed up that moment. Thank you for taking my call earlier today and hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me."

Sanders, widely expected to be drafted in the first round before the start of the NFL draft, had to wait until day 3 of the draft to end, while the Cleveland Browns picked him in the fifth round.

During a conference call with Cleveland-area journalists after a selection of journalists in the Cleveland-area, Sanders said he was not disturbed by pranks.

"Because I mean, OK, like I'm not falling into negative emotions, or I'm not eating these things. You see my reaction to it in the YouTube video of Deion (Sanders) Jr., and I don't - I'm a kid of course, but everyone is doing a kid, like that's something like that.
