National Football League fines Atlanta Falcons and assistant coach Jeff Ulbrich after Ulbrich's son Acknowledge the prank Quarterback Shedeur Sanders During the NFL draft.

An NFL spokesman said in a statement to CBS News that the Falcons were fined $250,000 and Ulbrich was fined $100,000, "for failing to prevent disclosure of confidential information before the NFL draft Prairie."

The Atlanta Falcons said Jax Ulbrich, 21, found Sanders' phone number on an open iPad belonging to his father and team and wrote the number.

Sanders, who played for the University of Colorado, is expected to draft early on, but until Cleveland Browns ranked fifth.

Shedas CBS Sports reported that a prank call occurred while Sanders hosted a live event the second day of the draft. When he picked up the phone, the man on the other end of the line claimed to be Mickey Loomis, general manager of the New Orleans Saints. The man said the Saints will choose Sanders next.

Sanders said he had been waiting for this. Then, the man on the other end turned the route and said Sanders “had to wait longer.”

Sanders said he and others at other events were confused and he began to doubt the prank.

"I don't know what that is," Sanders said on the live broadcast. "But no one gets that number. No one. It's a private number."

The Atlanta Falcons said it was apologizing directly from Jax Ulbrich to Sanders. he Apologize publicly For his actions, they were called "totally unforgivable, embarrassing and shameful."

The Falcons said Jeff Ulbrich "had not realized any aspect of the exposure or prank of the data" and was only aware that his son had been aware of his son's iPad access after the fact. A spokesman said the team did not intend to take disciplinary action against Jeff Ulbrich. CBS Colorado Report.

"We thank the NFL for its rapid and thorough review of last week's data exposure and the events that occurred due to this incident," the team said in a statement about the NFL fine.

“We are proactive in addressing internal situations and fully collaborating with the league throughout the process and have accepted discipline for the collection of coach Jeff Ulbrich and the organization,” the team said. “We are confident in our safety policies and practices and will continue to emphasize compliance with our staff, whether opening or closing venues.

CBS Sports reported that at least six players were mischievous during the draft. Other calls are under investigation, but are believed to be unrelated to the Sanders incident.
