The 2025 NFL draft brought quite a lot of surprises. But the Shedeur Sanders' free fall in the draft committee is probably the most surprising development.

The Cleveland Browns finally picked Sanders in the fifth round on Saturday. Shortly after the selection, Sanders went to social media and shared a brief but emotional message: "Thank God." In the days since then, many figures in the sports world and beyond have tried to outline Sanders' decline.

On Tuesday, the sport's report said a driverless NFL team executive highlighted the decision made by Sanders that could lead to some teams disillusioned with the former Colorado quarterback, leading to the NFL draft.

"I believe Shedeur made these visits as a recruitment trip and job interview," the team director told The Outlet.

Sanders refused to hire an agent to represent him in a formal capacity and brought the same news to the athlete. The report recommends that certified experienced agents may give Sanders a helpful insight into the draft.

It is widely believed that Shedeur's father, the Professional Football Hall of Fame Deion Sanders, effectively served as an informal adviser to the quarterback during the draft.

Before opening last Thursday, Sanders also faced strict scrutiny from other sources.

When asked to describe his experience with Shedeur's pre-draft interview, an anonymous NFL assistant coach pointed out that it was the "worst formal interview" he had been involved in.

The unansponsored coach said in NFL Media: "He was so titled. He took unnecessary sacks. He never played on time. His body language was terrible. He blamed his teammates. ... But the biggest thing is that he wasn't very good."

Sanders ended the 2024 season with 4,134 pass yards. He will join Cleveland's crowded quarterback room, which includes Deshaun Watson, Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett and Dillon Gabriel.
