As the NFL transitions to the quiet part of the offseason, online listings and rankings dominate online, we have the opportunity to rate players on rosters across the league.
Who are the stars? Who is underestimated?
PFF summarizes a list of the most underrated players in each team lineup.
We wrote about the Arizona Cardinals’ Choice.
But, let's look at the entire NFC West. Who is the most underrated player in the Cardinal Division?
Williams served as Cardinals’ main slot cornerback in 2024, finishing second-best PFF coverage class in the regular season (83.7). After only 25.9% of the first game rate last season, he will be the man’s seat again in 2025 – seventh out of 114 qualified slot guards.
Williams also had only 0.67 yards per spike during the workout slot, which was the top five.
Budda Baker is recognized by all as the Cardinals' best defensive player. Williams fell quietly behind Baker, if anything.
Jackson is a free agent who was not signed in 2021, so his appearance as more than 1,000 players in 2023 may not be seen as an ideal avenue for the Rams, considering past contributors to the position, Andrew Whitworth and Joe Noteboom.
Jackson has had the ups and downs as a starting starter in 2023, but he did really get into his own game in 2024, earning an overall record of 78.4 PFF, ranks 18th in that position while leading the PFF pass obstacle level (79.2). He ranked 22nd of all offensive tackles in 2024 while playing over 1,000 snapshots for the second straight season, which is more mileage than any team can expect to get rid of the former UDFA offensive winger.
Maybe there is no better way to know the importance of a player is not as big a fanfare as he gets when he is not playing. When Jackson missed three games, the Rams lost three games. Matthew Stafford was fired five times in Week 2 against the Cardinals.
Jennings entered the 2024 season, facing a crowded depth list between San Francisco, Brandon Aiyuk, Deebo Samuel and even 2024 first-round pick Ricky Pearsall, not to mention the goals of George Kittle and Christian McCaffrey.
Despite the many odds, Jennings established himself as the best option for offense, ranking first (2.26) in the top 20 in the PFF’s class (83.7), reception (77) and regular season (2.26) running each route (2.26). Thanks to his recent season, the former seventh-round draft pick is now in a major position to continue his outstanding performance in 2025.
When the 49ers re-signed the 2024 restricted free agent two years seemed like an unnecessary big contract, no one knew how important he had most of the season with McCaffrey, and as Brandon Aiyuk fell due to injuries. Jennings is both outstanding and consistent.
Love spent a year in his career in 2024, which seemed to be Mike MacDonald's defense, which led to a more complete performance. Love is ranked sixth in the PFF overall score (81.2) and is one of the two security (Kyle Hamilton) that have only two security (Kyle Hamilton) in the past season.
It's interesting when he was underrated when he was a professional bowler in 2023, but he's certainly solid in 2024.
