That's so much for those narratives that say the Saints of New Orleans. It feels like the river from Baton Rouge to New Orleans hasn't had any star talent for decades, but today, the Saints have more LSU Tigers in their roster than anywhere else.
And they played some very important roles between Tyrann Mathieu and Davon Godchaux, both of whom projected the defensive players, while the hot tight Foster Moreau and veterans ran back to Clyde Edwards-Helaire to compete for snapshots on the offense. The Saints also brought back this spring's offensive winger Will Will Will Will, who have some experience with Kellen Moore's offense.
But where do the saints still hope to draw talent? Whether in the annual NFL draft or signing veteran free agents, they are all from coast to coast, even outside of seeking help in the United States. It's the complete collapse, (not counting Irish kicker Charlie Smyth, who plans to join the Saints through an international approach):
If you're curious about how this would shake during a meeting, then we've already provided you with overrides (again, smyth is not counted):
So, 58 of the 90 players from the 11 conferences at the FCS level are from two players from the second-tier schools (Nathan Shepherd from Hays fort Hays State and Rico Payton from Pittsburgh State). These numbers will change with the summer churning, but we will continue to track them as the Saints work hard to build the best version of their team.
