Miami Heat veteran Kevin Love has gone through a lot in his career. The five-time All-Star selection reached its highest level and won the NBA championship with LeBron James along with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Love has also experienced many lows, and the 36-year-old has a good history of mental health problems.

Love is now experiencing one of the most heartbreaking moments of his life. This is after the death of his father, Stan Love. Kevin Love made the announcement via Instagram and commemorated his father emotionally in an article.

"Dad, you have been struggling for a long time" Love wrote. "The hardest thing is in the past 6 months. Witnessing the most painful in recent weeks. Even as you continue to deteriorate, I still see you as a giant. My protector. My first hero.

"What we keep hearing in the previous chapter is that you have experienced the happiness of a loving family. In return, how much you love your wife and children. Your only wish is to be surrounded by family at home when you breathe dyingly.

"That breath came. It's time to rest now."

Love goes on to describe his relationship with his father and then speaks about how proud he is to be a son.

Like his son, Stan Love is also an NBA player. He is No. 9 in the 1971 NBA Draft. The 6-foot-9 power forward is also with the Los Angeles Lakers and the San Antonio Spurs.
