Arenas was reportedly a commitment from the University of Southern California at the time of the crash.

Arenas' family shared a statement from a man who helped him leave his car behind the wreckage.

"I remember hearing explosions in the car window, but I couldn't see anything because the smoke was too thick," the man said, TMZ Sports.

"That was when I realized someone was inside. I tried to break the window, but that wouldn't give me. Then I saw one of the windows cracked and we used everything to bend and pulled him out. The car caught fire. We just knew we had to drive him out."
