Elon Musk tear up a massive tax and spending bill supported by President Donald Trump on Tuesday, calling it "annoying abhorrent" that would blow up the federal budget deficit.

"I'm sorry, but I can't stand it anymore," Musk wrote in an article on his social media site X.

“This huge, cruel, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is disgusting,” Tesla and SpaceX CEO.

"Shame to those who vote: You know you're doing something wrong. You know."

Musk led the Trump administration’s efforts to cut government spending and waste until last week his term as a temporary “special government employee” expired. Trump and Musk praised each other during a dispatch event held at Musk in the Oval Office on Friday.

Musk added in a follow-up article that the bill "will have greatly increased the already huge budget deficit to $2.5 trillion (!!!) while U.S. citizens are burdened with unsustainable debt."

The White House shrugged quickly, criticized by Musk, a vocal Trump supporter who spent more than $250 million in support of Trump's 2024 presidential election.

When asked about the position, press secretary Karoline Leavitt said: "Look, the president already knows Elon Musk's place on this bill."

"It won't change the president's opinion. It's a big and beautiful bill, he sticks to it."

Leavitt also doubled the government's claim that it was "blatantly wrong" to say the bill's increase in deficits. She accused the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office (which recently assessed the budget package to increase the deficit by $3.8 trillion over the next decade) of bias against Republicans.

But some of Trump's Republican lawmakers are aligning with Musk.

Kentucky's Rep. Thomas Massie, a fiscal hawk and one of two Republicans who opposed Trump's bill, wrote: "He's right," responding to Musk's post.

Musk answered Massi: "Simple math."

Senator Mike Lee (R-Utah) also supports Musk's point of view.

Lee wrote on X: "Congress hollowed out the middle class in the United States through reckless deficit spending and the inflation it causes."

"The unilateral promotion of this vicious cycle must be stopped on its track," Lee wrote.

Musk criticized the bill earlier. In a CBS News interview aired Sunday, the billionaire said the president “destroyed” the legislative package.

Musk has also expressed opposition to Trump's tariffs before. And he fought with other government officials, including publicly throwing insults at White House trade adviser Peter Navarro and clashing with Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.

Earlier Tuesday, Trump lashed out at Senator Rand Paul after Kentucky Republicans criticized the bill for raising debt ceilings to trillions of dollars.

Trump accused Paul of failing to understand that the bill would stimulate "huge growth."
