MSNBC's Biden interview loses to comedy reruns in key demo ratings

Despite a heavy advertising campaign and securing President Biden's final televised interview of his term, MSNBC host Lawrence O'Donnell's interview lost in ratings among key audiences to comedy shows and other platforms. Replay.

O'Donnell's interview with Biden took up an hour of the show and attracted a total of 1.2 million viewers, but only 97,000 viewers in the key 25-54 age group.

"Seinfeld," "Family Guy," "Friends," "The Office" and repeats of an episode of "South Park" are some of the shows that earned interviews with MSNBC's 25-54 demographic.

When O'Donnell's interview with Biden aired at 10 p.m. ET, Fox News Channel had 68% of total online news viewers and 71% among viewers ages 25 to 54, while MSNBC had Accounting for 23% and 15%. , respectively.

Although O'Donnell was beaten by multiple comedy shows in cable TV audiences, his interview with Biden drew higher ratings than the previous week.

However, O'Donnell's ratings will decline each year from 2023 to 2024 due to multiple age demographics. Ratings for "The Last Words of Lawrence O'Donnell" dropped 5% from 2023 to 2024, including a 6% drop among viewers 25-54 and a 6% decline among viewers 18-49 down 12%.

From December 2023 to December 2024, total audience numbers for O'Donnell's shows also dropped by 41%, with A25-54 down 45% and A18-49 down 38%. O'Donnell's total audience dropped 19% from Q4 2023 to Q4 2023, and the percentage in the 25-54 age group dropped 85% in the 18-49 age group.

In 2024, Fox News Channel's time slot rival O'Donnell's "Gutfeld" has a 69% advantage in overall ratings, 152% higher in the 25-54 demo and 152% higher in the 18-49 demo 173%.

O'Donnell praised Biden in an interview with the president, telling him that as president he had performed "magic" by passing the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and combining "domestic policy and foreign policy."
